Research on On-line Monitoring Technology of Transmission Line Galloping Based on Edge Computing

With the expansion of the construction scale, the transmission capacity of UHVDC is larger and the project distance is much longer than before, which are put forward higher requirements for the operation and maintenance of the transmission line. In order to ensure the safe and stable operation of UHVDC line, it is necessary to carry out a real-time monitoring and analysis method of the galloping state in an intelligent way. So far, the existing monitoring method still have some limitation such as high power consumption, high cost and low accuracy, which are difficult to meet the huge demand of comprehensive perception. Low-cost and low-power design are the key features of the IoT sensors in the transmission line application. In view of this, a low-cost transmission line galloping monitoring scheme based on acceleration sensor is put forward in this paper. We carried out a detailed analysis over Fourier transformation algorithm comparison, precision improvement by coordinate conversion and the device development. Based on the algorithm, the sensor can achieve the high accuracy of the galloping characteristic parameters. Compared with the traditional method, all the calculation was done inside the sensor, which reduced the data scale and power consumption significantly. With the improvement in reliability, intelligence and accuracy of the sensor, this method can strongly support the daily maintenance work of transmission lines.
