Influence of Laser Energy Density and Printing Angle on the Electrical Properties of PA12 Made by SLS

Selective laser sintering (SLS) has broad application prospects in making complex insulation structures. The printing process may lead to an anisotropic structure. In addition, different printed parameters such as laser energy density can affect the electrical properties of the samples. The optimal printed parameters may be obtained by studying the electrical properties of the printed samples. In this paper, with respect to different laser energy density and printing angles, volume resistivity, relative permittivity and breakdown strength are studied. The results show that there are three breakdown paths for the sample due to the anisotropy of the layer-layer interface, which will affect the electrical properties. It is worth pointing out that the sample has the best electrical performance when the printing angle is 90°. In terms of printing parameters, when laser energy density is 0.03 J/mm
²
, the sample has the best electrical properties, with the volume resistivity is 22 GΩ· m, the relative permittivity is 3.6 (1 MHz), the ac breakdown strength is 43 kV/mm and the dc breakdown strength is 82 kV/mm. In this paper, the influence of laser energy density and printing angle on the electrical properties of samples is studied, which provides a basis for improving the quality of 3D printed insulation samples.
