Control Education on Magnetic Levitation System

This paper presents education potential of our recently published results which are further extended and applied on Magnetic levitation system (MLS) modeling and control. We focus on linearized state-space control design approaches and propose robust pole-placement controller in the presence of model uncertainties. We emphasize the educational possibilities of the topic and teaching aspects. A comprehensive set of modeling and control design tasks for MLS is described and illustrated by simulation and experimental results. The topics and tasks presented in this paper include basic as well as advanced modeling and control approaches.
