Investigation of Magnetic Flux Density Variation Influence on the Biological Response of Cell Cultures

The presented paper focuses on the investigation of selective biological response induced by the application of the exogenous, time-varying low-frequency magnetic field. The research is inspired by the lack of sufficient scientific evidence regarding the generally accepted nonthermal physical mechanism of action at the cellular or subcellular level. Results observed and discussed within the scope of this article complement existing experimental evidence supporting the capability of biological system response alteration via application of exogenous low-frequency magnetic field at a cellular level. Experiments conducted on Saccharomyces cerevisiae cultures have shown that magnetic flux density variations are capable of provoking antagonistic proliferation response.
