The new rotarian [rotary engine]

The author reports on how an electrical engineer's hobby has led to the development of a novel rotary engine that combines high-pressure internal combustion and the design principles of a gas turbine to achieve unprecedented levels of theoretical efficiency. The rotary internal combustion turbine (RICT) follows some of the design features of a conventional gas turbine. The RICT combines the high-pressure virtues of an internal combustion engine with the multiple power strokes of a gas turbine-the basis for the engine's projected efficiency and power. The operating principle of the machine is described.
