Acousto-Optic Displacement Sensor for Mechanical Systems

The relevance of the work devoted to the creation of a modern displacement sensor for mechanical systems on the acousto-optic effect, which allows combining high speed and accuracy of measurements, with the possibility of using it in aggressive operating conditions, is formulated. The choice of the principle of displacement measurement based on the acousto-optic effect and non-contact measurement was made to meet the modern requirements of measuring systems. A description of the acousto-optic effect and its application for the construction of a displacement sensor are given. The structure and main parameters of the measuring circuit of the sensor, the principle of operation of the acousto-optic transducer on a standing sound wave are described. The principles of forming a standing sound wave and maintaining it in an acousto-optic element due to its design features. The analysis of the characteristics of the measuring circuit and the constructed sensor for measuring displacements and an assessment of compliance with the requirements of measuring systems has been carried out.
