Algorithms for Direct Digital Transmission of Control Signals Through the Vehicle's On-Board DC Network

VPLC (Vehicle Power Line Communication) technology is a promising alternative to dedicated communication lines between vehicle electronic units. VPLC modems use Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) for signal transmission over the wiring of a car. These devices are difficult to implement, have a high cost and are not widely used. On the other hand, the transmission of code signals through the DC power wiring is used to control additional vehicle equipment, in particular, in electronic relays for car alarms. The prime cost of such relays should be several dollars, which excludes the use of OFDM. Direct digital transmission is a cheap alternative. The code packet is transmitted in short pulses, and the receiver (electronic relay) must decode the useful signal against the background of pulsed noise in the wiring. The paper presents experimental data and statistical analysis of impulse noise in the wiring of a car. An algorithm for the formation of bits zero and one in the form of double pulses is proposed, which made it possible to increase the probability of correct reception of the control signal.
