Developing Automata-Based Control Software for Water Purification and Normalization

The problem of water purification and normalization is relevant to provide support for measuring the performance of water consumption devices. In this paper, we discuss the implementation of discrete control software for hardware plant intended for water purification. Here, by water purification, we mean the separation of distillate with specified properties, while by water normalization, we express the equalization of water temperature in the source tank and manifold to which the users can connect measuring devices to work with such water. The work is based on an extended timed automata formalism which we discuss in the present paper before moving on to the development. We present the architecture of a software solution that controls the plant and describe components of the system, state-flow diagrams of the water preparation and normalization processes. We also discuss some issues in this area.
