Signature Analysis of the Line Current of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) are widely used in various branches of technology. PMSM diagnostics based on the analysis of current data allows detecting malfunctions of the magnetic system and preventing engine damage. Typical malfunctions of the magnetic system of the PMSM such as the destruction of magnets, cracks, chips, a change in the geometry of the rotor, a drop in the coercive force, etc. leave their “mark” on the spectral characteristic of the linear current. It is more efficient to process the data of the spectral analysis of the current using the method of signature analysis. Comparing the current forms of signatures with signatures from the database characterizing the listed types of malfunctions, it is possible to identify changes in the magnetic system of the PMSM and prevent its failure and destruction.
