Frequency Response Strategy of Wind-storage-PEV Collaborated System

With the rapid increase of wind power penetration rate, the frequency response of wind generators(WG) is critical to the stable operation of the power system. In this paper, a cooperative method for WG frequency regulation is proposed. The WGs in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) operation utilizes the variable proportion coefficient to regulate the rotor speed. The Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) provides the frequency support depending on the power output condition. The stochastic model of the Plug-in Electric Vehicles' (PEVs) charging loads is developed to provide the demand response. Then, to optimize the frequency response characteristics of the WG-FESS-PEV system, the joint control scheme is designed for the coordination of the FESS and PEVs with the WGs to provide the frequency response. Through simulation verification, it can be known that the integrated wind-storage-PEV system provides the virtual inertia and participates in the primary frequency modulation, which strengthen the frequency stability of the power system. As a result, the stability and reliability of the power system can be improved.
