Comparative Analysis of Organic and Inorganic Solar Cells

The increasing need to make the planet more sustainable and the excessive use of finite resources in the production of energy makes the renewable resources crucial in order to satisfy the present energy demands without affecting natural resources and to ensure the survival of next generations. The evolution of photovoltaic technology has been considerable and some new approaches try to improve their efficiencies, for example with use of other types of layers without compromised their cost. Due to the limitation of the hours of sun, in a regular day, it is necessary to develop the photovoltaic technology and to improve their characteristics in order to occupy a prominent place in the renewable energies. In solar panels we can distinguish the ones which use organic semiconductor and the inorganic semiconductors. This study has the main focus on organic solar cells which produce the lowest impact in the ecologic environment when compared with traditional solar cells. Several tests are performed on organic solar cells in order to understand their behaviour when compared with the silicon cells.
