Comparison of F-OFDM and FBMC in terms of PAPR, BER and FER in Multilink Scenario

5G is known as the fifth generation of cellular network technology. It is assumed to be a greater role and is able to perform more functions than its previous generation. 5G is, in essence, a virtual cellular network containing cells, a service area served by 5G providers and separated into a small geographic area. 5G wireless devices communicate with each other using local antenna array radio waves as well as transceivers all located in the cell. In order to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), this research project is undertaken to evaluate which methodology and methods are best suited to 5G. Various techniques were identified in 4G which could or could not reduce the 5G PAPR problems. The technique is all tested and proven to work on a 4 G and LTE connection, but there is no clear view of whether the same technique will deliver the desired output from the 5G standard. An investigation is conducted to test the modulation of the waveform behavior towards PAPR in 5G system. Bit Error Rate (BER) and Frame Error Rate (FER) are also taken into consideration to see the effectiveness of the waveform. The analysis shows that FBMC is by all means, gives out a better performance in term of BER, and FER when compared to f-OFDM. However, the PAPR performance is maintain to be an issue for implementation.
