Influence of Material on Gear Contact Stress

Gear mechanism is one of the most widely used transmission methods in mechanical transmission. The stress change and deformation of gear under the same load under different material conditions are analyzed, which provides a reference for gear design and optimization.In this paper, the finite element analysis of a pair of meshing gears is carried out by using Ansys Workbench, and the contact stress and deformation of different materials under the same load are studied. Under the same load condition, the maximum stress and deformation of medium carbon alloy steel represented by No. 45 steel are less than that of low carbon steel represented by 40Cr, which is more suitable for making metal gear.
