Modeling Ka-Band Radar System to Characterize the EM Wave Propagation Properties in the Application of Target Detection

Ground target detection and identification using radar system in disparate environments has been a topic of enduring interest. Different radar bands have dominances for diverse environmental conditions. For example, it has been shown that the propagation characteristics of millimeter waves make them appropriate for a variety of applications including transmitting bulks of computer data, radar or satellite communications. By dispatching signals from a directional transmitter, reflecting waves against the concealed object and back, the radar would be able to figure out whether if there is an object behind and its distance. A meticulous study on the properties of the EM wave propagation is conducted to determine the significant parameters that affect the performance capability of radar system. Experiments are also carried out to justify the results obtained from the study.
