Numerical Study of Micro Combustor along with Recirculation Cap over Stability of Flame

The objective of this work is to study numerically the flame stabilization of a MEMS based methane-air micro -combustor (adiabatic). Three backward step micro-combustor with and without recirculation cap are simulated computationally through the usage of methane- air premixed fuel in the quartz micro combustor. A software ANSYS fluent has been used for simulating different designs (models). To make flame stable, the methane-air fuel (equivalence ratio→ 0.6) has been premixed. For various inlet velocities, 1, 3, 5 and 8 ms

, of the premixed fuel have been analyzed in this model. It can be inferred from the results that by adding the recirculation cap over the surface of micro combustor the flame thickness (flame stretching) increases. Due to increase in the thickness of the flame the stability has been increased.
