Research on temperature field of dissimilar metals by Tungsten Inert Gas Welding

In order to study the temperature field of welded pipe, a finite element model (FEM) for calculating the temperature field of pipe was established with the finite element analysis (FEA) software ANSYS. The Homogeneous body heat source model (HSM) is used as the welding heat input and combined with the birth and death unit technology to simulate the whole process of pipe welding. The calculated results of the numerical simulation of the temperature field fit well with the results of the metallographic diagram measured by the experiment. The results of FEA show that the welded seam is segmented or not has little effect on the temperature field distribution at the end of the pipe. The welded seam at the end of the support have a huge impact on the temperature field distribution of the pipe. It is necessary to wait until the temperature of the overlapped HAZ of the previous and subsequent welded seam is reduced to a reasonable range before performing the subsequent weld.
