Study of the possibilities for using methane as a transport fuel through biomass gasification process

The current paper focuses on the possibilities for the production of methane through the gasification of biomass and further use as a fuel in transport equipment. The research aims to produce methane as a final product through the gasification of waste wood biomass. The presented installation is a large-scale facility where the amount of input raw material of 12 900 tons is consumed, as well as 2 722 tons of methane is produced. . The own needs of the installation are equal to 15 to 20% of the total final energy produced. Besides, the use of biomass as a feedstock has a significant positive environmental impact - the amount of carbon emissions generated will be reduced by about 80% compared to the use of diesel fuel. In conclusion, it can be said that the methane obtained from the gasification of biomass can be used as an alternative fuel in engines such as Otto gas, gas diesel, and pilot injection engines.
