Intermixed Generalized Integrator based Grid-Friendly Inverter Control for Power Quality Enrichment in Microgrid System Applications

In this paper, an adaptive grid-friendly inverter control is designed based on the fuzzy gain scheduling of PID dc-link voltage controller and intermixed generalized integrator controller (FPID-IGI) during grid and load transient conditions. The proposed FPID-IGI controller is considered in grid-tied two stage photovoltaic (PV) system applications to sending the utmost power from the PV to the utility grid at unity power factor (UPF) and for power quality improvement. Moreover, it extracts the fundamental components (FC) from the load currents, grid voltages, dismissal of dc offset, grid-synchronization and also not compromised in terms of power quality enhancement of the system. The proposed FPID-IGI controller is implemented in the matlab/simulink platform with several abnormal grid and load conditions. The experimental validation is performed to validate the simulation results in the real-time environment by considering the dSPACE evaluation platform. The achieved results are found satisfactorily with regard to harmonic mitigation, rejection of dc offset and FC extraction which satisfy the strength of the proposed controller. Moreover, the grid voltages and currents total harmonic distortion are found adequate which are in the limits of IEEE-519 standards.
