System for Management of Scalelite Based Videoconferencing Systems

Remote work and education have become increasingly common in the last few years, but have been pushed into the spotlight in the past 12 months as an acceptable solution to restricted mobility. The use of open-source videoconferencing solutions, especially in the higher education field, has seen a significant increase with one of the most popular solutions being BigBlueButton. In the case of BigBlueButton, scalability can be achieved through clustering of the servers via the Scalelite system. The main issue with Scalelite based systems is lack of support for user-friendly management of the system, as well as difficult integration with external tools due to the use of command line utilities for management of the system. In this paper, we present the solution to those problems in form of enhanced Scalelite API and a newly developed web-based tool for the management of Scalelite based videoconferencing systems.
