Dynamic modelling: study of thermochemical reactions

From the view point of availability of natural resources, the use of solar energy appears very attractive. However, since this source of energy is intermittent due to atmospheric conditions and night time, it can only be useful if a convenient and economical storage of the energy is developed. In the framework of renewable energies, storage takes an important place and one can say that nowadays the most attractive means is in a chemical reaction whereby the product or products can be reacted to regenerate the solar energy in the form of heat. We propose in this work a method based on industrial or semi-industrial size experiences. A model is established on the observation of experimental data and the physical law. Dynamic modelling is a way to the determination of thermokinetics constants and the associated numerical calculation generate results in agreement with those obtained by using other techniques. The method can be used as a complementary tool for the choice of a storage chemical reaction. If criteria regarding the thermodynamic and kinetics are established, we can either verify them or predict the temperature behaviour and the reaction rate of an exothermic reaction.
