A Tool to Estimate Remaining Life of Overhead Line Conductors

In power system asset management, assessment of the overhead line is one of the most important jobs. So, determining the remaining life of overhead conductors is one of the ways to estimate the remaining service time of the OHL conductor. Estimating effective age is a part of determining remaining life. The health index indicates the condition of conductors or Health of the conductor. This paper proposes a method to estimate the effective age of the OHL conductor using the value of health index which is then used to aggregate the value of remaining life. This streamlines the process of determining the remaining life of the conductor. Because, with only the value of the Health Index of the specific conductor, effective age can be determined which in combination with the expected age of the conductor determines the desired value of the remaining life of the conductor.
