Properties and Examples of the Digital Platforms

In this paper we present the basic concepts and properties of digital platforms that distinguish them from information systems. We analyze the features and possibilities of integrating information processes within digital platforms. The analysis shows that all the properties of the digital platforms are integrative since they provide communication of subjects within the platform and interaction of the platforms with each other. It follows from the analysis of the current development level of digital platforms in some of the most important areas that they often do not comply with the requirements for the basic properties of the digital platforms. This fact makes it difficult for platform participants to communicate. Therefore, creating digital platforms following the described requirements is necessary for information processes integration and effective communication.
