FPGA Implementation of a Power Efficient DC-DC Converter Design and Control for DC Microgrids

In this paper, power efficient design of DC-DC converter is proposed for the DC microgrid application. The DC-DC converter requires load voltage measurement feedback control signals to overcome voltage droops under load variations. Since power regulation and voltage regulation are major concern for the DC-DC converters, we proposes an Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) based digital control signal design and implementation to power regulate and maximize the efficiency of the converter. Furthermore, we investigate various physical parameters which effects on the power efficiency. The efficiency of converter effects significantly on load variatio tns as well as source life span. Therefore, powerquality enhancement for converter is needed. Furthermore, the proposed design is practically implemented and tested by using Xilinx FPGA board and LabVIEW software National Instruments (NI) for vitrification of results.
