Selective Voltage Vector Based Predictive Torque Control of Five-Phase Induction Motor Drive

Finite control set predictive torque control (FCS-PTC) has been used in this paper as the drive control technique for a five-phase induction motor (FPIM). Due to a large number of switching states and multiple control objectives, the computational burden of the control algorithm is high, which is a problem for the application of the controller to an FPIM. A solution to overcome this problem has been proposed using selective prediction vectors (SPVs) based FCS-PTC. In the SPVs based control technique, a reduced number of voltage vectors are employed for the prediction of torque and flux. The stator flux position in the α-β plane and torque error are used to reduce the number of voltage vectors. Simulation results show that the controller's performance is reliable at steady state, load disturbance, and speed transient conditions. Due to the use of a reduced number of voltage vectors, the proposed SPVs based FCS-PTC is computationally efficient.
