Design parameter analysis of a ring type energy saving device for AUV

In order to examine the feasibility of energy-saving ring structure for AUV equipment, a variable ring structure is designed according to the size of small AUV. In establishing the mathematical relationship between driving device and connecting rod, the key parameters of variable ring structure performance are extracted. In order to streamline the structure, star CCM + software was used to simulate and analyze the flow field and key hydrodynamic parameters of AUV. The results demonstrate that the annular structure can provide effective lift. The energy consumption per unit distance can reduce by gliding in the process of floating and diving. Appropriate annular structure parameters can improve the flow field around the propeller and improve the efficiency of the propeller. However, resistance of AUV with annular structure will increase, and the reasonable opening angle should be 0-20.
