Analysis-space-reduction for automated modem optimization in underwater communication

While model-based approaches of synthesizable communication systems are a promising design-flow, no certain standard for comparing different modems and performance analysis exists. Simulations often use an unsuitable simplified channel combined with a simple propagation-delay-dependent attenuation. It is still not established how to study modems with such advanced models, especially design parameters like accuracy and costs in terms of time and energy to consider, which ultimately form the analysis space. In this work, we introduce a geometrical and analytical average-based DSE approach for a standardized optimizing/analyzing Workflow. With these approaches, we can reduce the number of CTFs we have to evaluate for the average based DSE approach up to 99.675%.
