The Use of a Probabilistic Model for the Economic Operation and Lifetime Extension of a Photovoltaic-Wind Distribution Network

A probabilistic model and algorithm are proposed for the economic dispatch and power sharing of photovoltaic (PV) and wind sets with battery banks in a low voltage distribution network. To extend the lifetime of a distributed network, that consists of several PV-wind sets with battery banks, the joint Gaussian probability distribution functions is evaluated for three main random variables, which are battery depth of discharge, PV power availability, and wind power availability The network is converted into source and load nodes distributed as an ad hoc network, with different groups or subsets, formed to supply full load demands at different timings, for removing redundancies in supplying shared power, and extending network lifetime. A case study of several PV-wind-battery sets supplying several load centers in a distributed network, is being simulated and evaluated. The contribution of each PV-wind set in supplying the overall network loads, is estimated accordingly in an intuitive method in proportional with the evaluated probabilities of each source set supplying the entire network load demand.
