Analysis of the Influence of Large Ground Radome on the Radiation Characteristics of Array Antenna

In this paper, the higher-order moment method (HOMoM) hy-bridized with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA) is used to simulate an array antenna that mounting in a large ground radome, so as to study the influence of radome on the radiation characteristics of the array antenna. Because the electrical size of the radome is very large and the array antenna usually contain complex materials and geometries, for their integrated model, it is difficult to perform accurate and efficient electromagnetic simulation adopting a single algorithm. Therefore, the parallel HOMoM-MLFMA hybrid algorithm is implemented in this paper to perform simulation. The calculation accuracy of the implemented hybrid algorithm is verified firstly. And then, an array antenna model is established and the array antenna is scanned mechanically to observe the change of the main lobe direction. Furthermore, an electromagnetic model integrating the array antenna and large ground radome is established, and the parallel HOMoM-MLFMA hybrid algorithm is used for its simulation. By comparing the radiation pattern of the array antenna before and after mounting in the radome, the influence of the large ground radome on the radiation characteristics of the array antenna is well reflected.
