A Consistent Scheme for the Precise FDTD Modeling of the Graphene Interband Contribution

The conductivity of graphene, due to interband electron transitions, is evaluated, in this article, as rational functions through an efficient iterative optimization of Padé polynomials. Then, the latter are straightforwardly imported in the text finite-difference text time-domain algorithm, as an equivalent surface current, by means of precise recursive convolution schemes. Numerical examples, considering an incident plane wave toward graphene, the extraction of the corresponding surface wave propagation attributes, and a plasmonic switch, successfully validate the consistent modeling of interband conductivity through the proposed technique.
