Technical and Economic Efficiency Analysis of the Energy Storage Systems Use in Off-Grid Power Systems

This paper provides an overview of promising options for the energy storage systems (ESS) use in centralized and off-grid power systems. The technical and economic efficiency analysis of the ESS use in off-grid power system is carried out as in the case of a real village located in the north of the Siberian Federal District of Russia. Comparing with the basic case the effect of optimizing the generation equipment composition and its loading modes provided savings on the fuel component and maintenance in the amount of 23% per year, which could be considered and the valuable result.
