A Model of Assessment and Minimization of CO2 Emissions for Green Hub Location-Routing Problem

With the growing concern regarding the environmental issues, it is necessary to consider the environmental performance of the freight transportation network, while keeping it economically competitive. This paper focuses on the Hub Location-Routing Problem (HLRP) and detects the carbon footprint with aims to figuring out ways to calculate and reduce the CO2 emissions. A MILP model was developed and a computational experiment is conducted to reveal the fact that the solutions of minimizing CO
₂
emissions tended to open more potential hubs, which then was subjected to a big network cost. Further experiments with an epsilon constraint method explored the trade-offs between the network cost and the CO2 emissions.
