Message from the FOSINT-SI 2020 Program Chairs

The International Symposium on Foundations of Open Source Intelligence and Security Informatics (FOSINT-SI 2020, virtual, December 8, 2020) provides a unique international forum for academic researchers, industrial practitioners and government professionals to socialize, share their ideas, and exchange their data, knowledge, and expertise. National security is the key to protect against substantial physical and psychological threats to governments; public safety; environment; or energy, food, and fiscal infrastructures. Terrorism, misinformation, crime, and cyberattacks are common examples which are among the top national security threats our society is currently facing. Open source intelligence and security informatics can be powerful tools for combating these threats and protect our society. These tools are most effective when they result from the multidisciplinary collaboration of different experts and stakeholders that FOSINT-SI has been fostering during the years. The symposium calls for advances in social network analysis, data mining, machine learning and predictive analytic, possibly combined with specific domain expertise, to detect, disrupt and neutralize cyber and physical threats to national and individuals' security.
