Digital Divide in the Learning Process of Physics during Covid – 19 pandemic : A Case Study in two Educational Institutions in the City of Cuenca

In March 2020, a quarantine measure was declared in Ecuador to counteract the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, the educational systems had to activate contingency plans to continue with the teaching-learning process by using resources that foster an adequate education during the confinement at home. The purpose of this article is to determine how the access to technological resources can affect the learning of Physics. The participants were students of the last two levels of secondary education of "Hermano Miguel de la Salle" and "San Francisco" High Schools. The obtained results have allowed to establish that there is a technological gap in terms of access to digital educational resources between students in a public and a private school. Learning by discovery must be used to study science; however, due to the current confinement situations, this learning technique has not been possible. Hence, there was a need to investigate how students are acquiring their knowledge of Physics.
