Flexible Distributed Power Converter with Harmonic Compensation and Seamless Passive Islanding Detection

In the distributed generation system, islanding de-tection(ID) is crucial and challenging to preserve the power quality supplied by utility. Passive phase jump detection (PJD) based ID is easy, fast, and does not affect power quality as in active phase-locked loop(PLL) ID. The major obstacle in passive phase jump detection based ID is to choose threshold. In this paper, this issue is solved using two different synchronizing methods (STF-PLL and STF-FLL) and decision control logic. Here, flexible distributed power inverter(FDPI) is working for harmonics elimination in current control mode (CCM) before the is-landing. After is-landing, FDPI operation switches to voltage control mode (VCM) and supply power to nonlinear load. Over/under voltage detection is also incorporated with phase jump detection techniques in the proposed work to make ID capability compatible with both voltage and frequency disturbances.
