Hybrid Integrator Control with Seamless Mode Transition in Solar PV-SB Based Microgrid

In this paper, a hybrid integrator control for solar photovoltaic (PV) array and storage battery (SB) based microgrid with seamless mode transition capability is presented. In grid-connected mode (GM), the voltage source converter (VSC) operates in the current control mode using a hybrid integrator. In the event of grid outage, the system is made to operate in a standalone mode (SM) and the VSC control shifts to the voltage control mode. In addition, the load demand is met without any interruption and the surplus solar generation is used to charge the SB using a bidirectional DC-DC converter (BDC). Furthermore, the SB supplies the load demand even under the combination of grid outage and disrupted solar power generation. By the virtue of a boost converter control, the PV array delivers peak power in both modes. MATAB based simulation results corroborate the applicability of this new control.
