Flexible Concentric Ring Electrode Array for Low-Noise and Non-Invasive Detection

Bio-signal interference and crosstalk between electrodes in electrode array needs to be reduced. Here, based on theoretical calculation and parameter optimization, a polyimide-based flexible concentric ring electrode array (CREA) was proposed and fabricated through MEMS process. Pioneeringly, CREA replaces monopolar electrode with tripolar concentric ring electrode after parameter optimization. Then serpentine configuration Then serpentine configuration on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate and adhesive layer was designed for electrical connection to keep the device stretchability. Finally, the testing results show that CREA has relatively 50% higher signal to noise ratio and 38% lower mutual information compared with monopolar electrode array.
