Visualization of financial data in teaching financial accounting

The paper looks into introducing visualization and data skills in teaching financial accounting. Visualization is part of innovative data skillset which is high demand in the industry. The paper introduces a project-based activity that targets data visualization and critical thinking (i.e. soft skills) development as well as supports application of accounting knowledge (i.e. technical skills). The project is based on scaffolding and introduces students to dashboard reporting in financial accounting while building knowledge and skills in data visualization through mini-tasks.
