An Active Tunable Frequency Selective Surface Based On The Rotatable Magnet

In this paper, we first present a frequency selective surface (FSS) with magnetically tunable transmission window. The FSS has the characteristics of broadband tunable and low insertion loss. The structure includes an upper passive layer and a lower active magnetically layer. The lower active magnetically layer unit include a rotatable ellipse-magnet which controlled by the magnetic-control device on a dielectric substrate. The active magnetically layer loaded with a single-passband passive layer, showing that the passband can be tuned from 6.90 to 15.73 GHz by spinning ellipse-magnet from 0° to 90°, with an insertion loss between 0.04 and 0.20 dB.
