Wideband Fabry-Perot Resonator Antenna Employing Single Layer Partially Reflective Surface

This paper presents a wideband Fabry-Perot resonator antenna (FPRA) operating in the X band. The antenna is fed by two slots coupled patch, which not only avoids the complexity of the array antenna but also provides a stable gain in a wideband range. The partially reflective surface (PRS) adopts the combination of the hexagonal patch and hexapod branch, which can make the PRS obtain a positive phase gradient in a wide frequency range from 8.5 - 11.5 GHz, so as to increases the 3dB gain bandwidth of the FPRA. The proposed antenna has been simulated by HFSS. The simulated results show that the antenna possesses a relative 3 dB gain bandwidth of 28.5% (8.4 -11.2 GHz) with a peak gain of 14 dBi. The -10 dB impendence bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 8.4 -11.3 GHz.
