Development of a Virtual Environment for Extrasomatic Communication

There is a structural shift in communication as technologies become ever more pervasive, and this transposition has become more pronounced with the adoption of virtual and augmented realities. People are communicating with one another through different modes, but also interacting with insentient technologies for intentional purposes. This is known as extrasomatic communication. This work-in-progress paper presents research implementing a creative antidisciplinary methodology aimed at designing a framework of extrasomatic communication by engaging users in a real-to-virtual immersive environment.
