Optical Nonlinear Activation Functions Based on MZI-Structure for Optical Neural Networks

We experimentally demonstrated an on-chip optical nonlinear activation function circuit for optical neural networks based on a conventional linear transformer, MZI-mesh. The proposed circuit is reconfigurable to perform multiple types of nonlinear activation functions. © 2020 The Author(s)
