Fuzzy-Self-Tuning PI Speed Regulator for DTC of Three-Level Inverter fed IM

This paper reveals a design method to enhance the speed profile of an induction motor (IM) drive fed by three level voltage source inverter (VSI) under direct torque control (DTC). Given that the conventional proportional integral (PI) controller cannot handle the abrupt load variation, we suggest inserting an accurate fuzzy self-tuning PI speed regulator to overcome this limitation. This latter is better than the fixed gains PI controller in terms of robustness against load disturbance. The holistic approach of DTC control scheme combined with the proposed adjustable speed PI controller gains using a fuzzy logic regulator is elaborated and developed. Simulation results verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the propounded technique is carried out through MATLAB/Simulink software.
