Control of Wind-Battery Based Microgrid With Seamless Synchronization to Grid/DG Set

This paper deals with the control of wind turbine driven induction generator-battery based microgrid with seamless synchronization to the grid/DG-set. Here, two voltage source converters (machine side converter and load side converter) are used to connect the wind generator, household loads and the grid with each other. The machine side converter (MSC) is controlled using the sensorless field-oriented vector control to eliminate the mechanical sensor. The load side converter (LSC) is controlled with an adaptive algorithm and operates the microgrid in off-grid mode, grid connected mode and DG-set connected mode. The microgrid control strategies are tested on MATLAB/Simulink and on hardware prototype under various operating conditions such load unbalance, wind speed variation and during grid/DG set synchronization
