Coolant Pressure Evaluations for a MEMS Sensor-Array Quench Detection in REBCO CICC Superconducting Cables

The initial quench pressure developments for a CICC cable of REBCO tapes have been investigated by numerical analyzing the first law of thermodynamics. The temperature and pressure rise due to the quench has been evaluated for a REBCO CICC conductor operated in helium gas coolant at 26 K. Additionally, a MEMS sensor-in-tube array method has been proposed and discussed for quench detection.
