A Design of PID Controller Using FPGA-Realization for Motion Control Systems

In real world, most of controllers are demonstrated under discrete expression. The well-known Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) scheme reveals several benefits such as simply implementation, adjustable gains and expert-based knowledge. In this paper, the research of FPGA-based PID control algorithm for driving motor is presented. By adopting the strategy of smooth motion interpolation, the proposed controller for single axis to realize on field programmable gate array. The advantages of this approach are to accelerate the rapid algorithm processing, obtain great precision and highly commercial ability. The results of both numerical simulation and practical test have been validated that our approach is effective, feasible and proper for a closed loop control on a compact hardware.
