Photon absorption efficiency for Crystalline Silicon Solar Cell and Optimizing the thickness of the absorptive layer

Highly efficient Crystalline silicon (c-Si) solar cells increasingly feature complex electron and hole contacts aimed at minimizing losses of electron-hole pair combination. Here, we are simulating the fate of the photon using an arbitrary variable and developing an algorithm. As the fate of the photon is a function of the absorption coefficient of the material, refractive index and thickness of the absorption layer, In this paper we developed an algorithm based on Monte Carlo Ray Tracing to track the photon packets and propose an accurate yet simple method to optimize the thickness of the absorption layer for the maximum absorption of electron-hole pair.
