Performance Analysis of Advanced Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage System with Constant-volume and Adiabatic Gas storage Model under Multi-cycle Operation

The gas storage chamber of small advanced adiabatic compressed air energy storage system(AA-CAES) is generally characterized by small surface area, short storage and release time, and insufficient heat exchange with the outside world, so the thermodynamic process of the gas storage chamber can be idealized into a constant volume adiabatic gas storage process. To study the performance of AA-CAES under constant-volume adiabatic gas storage model, a dynamic simulation model of AA-CAES using constant volume adiabatic gas storage for multi-cycle is established. The change of the output power and power generation efficiency of the AA-CAES system with the operating cycle is studied. The result shows that: the output power of AA-CAES decreases with the energy release process, and the use of the regenerative system can alleviate the downward trend of output power and stabilize the output power; under the condition of multi-cycle operation, the convergent trend of the power generation efficiency of AA-CAES is related to the air injection temperature, the final power generation efficiency of AA-CAES decreases with the increase of air injection temperature; When the air injection temperature is higher than the ambient temperature, the power generation efficiency of AA-CAES using the constant volume adiabatic gas storage model is higher than that of the constant volume and constant temperature model, otherwise, it is lower than that of the constant volume and constant temperature model.
