CFD Modeling of Hydrodynamics in Circulating Fluid Bed

It is important to understand the complex gas-solids hydrodynamics behaviour of cylindrical Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB). The objective of this research was to investigate the key hydrodynamics characteristics of CFB under two different operating conditions using 2.5 dimensional (2.5D) modeling method. Results showed that reasonable qualitative agreements between the experimental results and simulations of the axial solids holdup distributions was obtained using 2.5D modeling approach. The results indicate that the 2.5D modeling approach is capable of accurately predicting the typical overall flow characteristics and its heterogeneity of cylindrical CFB.
