Simulation and Performance Analysis of Flyback Rectifiers with Active Power Decoupling Method and Transformer Isolation

Power electronics holds a key position in the field of engineering with the ability to convert AC power to the required level of AC or to convert AC power to DC or vice-versa. This DC voltage can be obtained from the available AC supply by using AC to DC converter or rectifier in the power supply circuit. For performance amelioration of a rectifier, improved efficiency, improved displacement power factor, lower ripple factor and lower Total Harmonic Distortion (%THD) are necessary. In this paper, with the help of a freewheeling diode, a single-phase rectifier with active power decoupling method and a three-phase rectifier with transformer isolation are simulated which show improved performance.
