Simulation of Distribution Network Using Shifted-Frequency Electromagnetic Transient Program

As more and more complex devices are being connected to the distribution network, its electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation becomes more and more important. However, the EMT simulation of the distribution network has been a complex problem because of the large scale and numerous complex components. In this paper, a shifted-frequency-based electromagnetic transient (SFEMT) model is proposed for the distribution network. This model can simulate the electromagnetic transient process of distribution networks in a relatively large time step while retaining high accuracy and flexibility of time step. The principle and simulation algorithm of the SFEMT model is first introduced. Then, the SFEMT models of basic AC components are proposed, such as transformers, transmission lines and static loads. Finally, an IEEE13-node system is built for verification. The simulation results show that the SFEMT model has high accuracy and efficiency and can be used for full electromagnetic transient simulation of distribution network.
